Dr. Diana Joyner-Mattox:

Dr. Diana Joyner-Mattox is originally from this area and graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 1986. Upon graduation from high school she enrolled at PHCC where she earned an Associate in Arts degree while working full-time as a veterinary assistant for Dr. HR Smalley and Dr. Chet Taylor. Dr. Joyner-Mattox transferred to the University of Florida as a Junior and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science, and continued on to earn her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.

In May of 1997 she started her own small animal practice in a small converted home with 1 full-time employee. The practice has grown in leaps and bounds over the last 11 years and has expanded into a new 3600 sq-foot hospital with 3 full-time veterinarians, a practice manager,  8 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees.

Dr. Joyner-Mattox's family includes her husband Casey, stepdaughter Lynsey, a dog, Hunter, three cats, Ashley, Josh and Peaches, and two horses Gold and Roxy. In her free time she enjoys working in the yard, horseback riding and reading. Her personal and business goals for the future include spending more time with her family while continuing to manage her business with a focus on client services and excellence in patient care.


Dr Jennifer Hooks:

Dr. Hooks was born and raised in Davie, Florida (near Fort Lauderdale). Her childhood included helping capture alligators with her father, a biologist and state licensed nuisance alligator trapper.

She attended the University of Florida where she obtained her Bachelor's in Science degree in Zoology in 2000 and her Veterinary Medical Degree in 2004.

Dr. Hooks resides in Brooksville and is currently working on clearing land to build a log cabin. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her own animals, which include three cats, a rottweiler, and a pot-bellied pig. Additional interests include art, craftwork, gardening, travel, nature, and water sports. Her veterinary interests include all domestic animals, and she is developing her skills in the exotic and wildlife field.


Dr. Lisa Hirokawa:

Dr. "H" as she is affectionately known, received her BA in Zoology from the University of Hawaii and her DVM from Iowa State University of Veterinary Medicine. 

She joined our San Antonio Animal Hospital team in August of 2007 and brought with her a love of both helping animals and their owners.  Dr. Hirokawa has a 6 year old bulldog names Annie and a puppy named Koa. 

 In addition to her dedication to her career, she enjoys karate, swimming, hiking and playing the guitar.

 


Becky Jones - Practice Manager

Becky joined San Antonio Animal Hospital in May of 2006 as our practice manager. She has a Master's Degree in Business from Brenau University in Atlanta.

Becky has a daughter in college and a son in the Navy. She lives with her three dogs, Lucy (a maltese), Kiwi (a chihuahua/dachshund mix), and Chiquita (a chihuahua).

Becky is a New England native and had lived in the Atlanta area for the past 14 years prior to moving to Dade City.

She enjoys cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time at the beach. She attends St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Dade City.


Paige Smith - Veterinary Technician

Paige has lived in Dade City all her life, she has owned and worked with many great horses. Paige has ground trained over a dozen foals and have broke 5 horses for trail.

Paige graduated from Pasco High School, during her High School years she was in Agriculture On the Job Training. In this program she worked on a horse farm, where she met two very important men in her life. The first man was her High School sweetheart and is now her husband. They married a little over a year ago after dating four and a half years. He has a great career with WREA, working as a Lineman Apprentice. The second man she met was an Equine Veterinarian out of Odessa, Fl Dr. Maury Linkous. Dr Linkous helped increase Paige's knowledge of horses and was a huge boost in her self-confidence. She says the year she worked with him was a great experience for her.

After leaving the horse farm, Paige changed directions by working at a small animal clinic in Zephyrhills, Florida. The two years she was there she learned a lot from the Doctors but wanted to work closer to home. Her sister Selena told her of a position that was available at what was then known as Veterinary Home Health Care. Paige took the position and has been a veterinarian Technician with what is now known as San Antonio Animal Hospital for about a year, she says it is a great facility, an awesome staff and the Doctor's are good too. She also gets to enjoy working with her sister Selena that joined us in May of 2004.

Selena Reilly - Head Veterinary Technician

Selena joined the San Antonio Animal Hospital team on May 3, 2004. She has been a Veterinary Tech for almost 5 years. Selena grew up in Dade City and married her High School sweetheart Thomas also of Dade City they have been married 8 years. They have 4 children if you count the critters too. Their oldest is Devin a Boxer, then you have Bailey their daughter, followed by Daniel their son, and last but not least is Tin Tin, a cat.

Selena enjoys working with the animals and feels the most rewarding part of her job is seeing a sick animal she has cared for return to normal health.


Alisha Marler -  Veterinary Technician

Alisha was born and raised in Dade City.  She's married and the mother of 2 girls.  Rounding out her household are 3 cats and 2 dogs.

In her spare time, Alisha enjoys volunteering at Pasco Elementary School and baking cookies with her children.

 

 


Sandy Beyer - Veterinary Technician

Sandy was born and raised in Leesburg, Florida. She was a member of the Okahumpka 4-H for eleven years where she showed many swine and cattle.

After graduating from high school, Sandy attended Lake Sumter Community College for two years. She recently moved to Dade City to be with her fiance. She joined us in February of 2006.

Sandy's enjoys riding four wheelers, fishing, and her job.  Sandy has a dog named Cletus and one named October.


Katie Stitham - Veterinary Technician

Katie joined the San Antonio Animal Hospital Team in March of 2006. She grew up in Northern Maine and went to school at the University of Bangor in Central Maine.

Her hobbies include horseback riding, drawing, working with clay, hiking, fishing, swimming, and camping.

Katie has bred horses for several years and has one cat named Bobby and a boxer named Molly.



Alyssa Shiver - Veterinary Assistant

Alyssa was born and raised near Houston Texas and moved to Florida in August of 2007.  She enjoys the beach and lives in Brooksville with her boyfriend and her Boxer Harley.

 



Susan Scoles - Client Care Specialist

We welcomed Susan to San Antonio Animal Hospital in January 2007.  She has many years of experience working in veterinary hospitals. Susan was born in Portland, Maine and graduated high school in Dunedin Florida.  She married her high school sweetheart and has a daughter named Emily.  She's also the proud parent of 3 spoiled dobermans and a cockatiel.

 

 


Liz Peterson - Client Care Specialist

Liz joined our team in March of 2007. She is a New Jersey native and graduated from Ithaco College in New York with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in Environmental Studies.  She has previously worked at Berkeley Heights Animal Hospital in New Jersey and most recently, at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula as a Great Ape Caregiver. She plans to attend USF this fall to work towards her Master's Degree in primate evolution and behavior.  She lives with her dog, Sierra, 4 cats (Stitch, Suki, Maverick & Bronte). 

Her personal interests include scrap booking and rock climbing.
